For the adrenalin junkie, there are few activities that equal soaring through the air in one way or another. In Sandpoint and North Idaho, we love flying and aviation as much as any other part of the world. Flying, sky diving, and parasailing in locally can be more of a challenge than other places, in that we have more mountains, snowy seasons, and, at times, fewer resources. We do, however, have plenty of airfields and landing strips. Plus, if you have a seaplane, we have endless lakes and rivers. We have a blossoming aviation industry, with Quest Aircraft manufacturing puddle jumpers, with orders for next years to come. So, you've decided you want to do a little sky diving, parachute in hand. Ballooning   Every Labor Day weekend Coeur d'Alene has the Lake Coeur d'Alene BalloonFest. This is an outstanding event that benefits the KOOTENAI ALLIANCE FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES. While the BalloonFest does not offer rides, it is a good place to meet these intrepid sky riders, and garner info on who does offer rides, as well as other pertinent information.
